Septic System Design
North Star Engineering is highly experienced in the design of onsite sanitary systems for both residential and commercial properties on Long Island. We are proficient in Innovative and Alternative Onsite Wastewater Treatment Systems (I/A OWTS), as well as conventional sanitary systems. We also perform evaluations for existing sanitary systems if a Professional Engineering Certification is required.
Wastewater Pump
Stations
North Star Engineering is equipped to design wastewater pump stations that are necessary due to site constraints or for low pressurized sewer systems throughout Suffolk County. Our design professionals prepare pump station reports, calculations, and engineering plans for submission to regulatory agencies.
Sanitary Evaluation and Feasibility Reports
North Star Engineering performs due diligence for commercial properties to evaluate the allowable sanitary flow, to certify if existing systems are adequate, and to determine alternatives for the future development of the site. Our design professionals will prepare a preliminary site layout plan to ensure that a code-compliant system will fit on the property.
Grading and
Drainage Plans
North Star Engineering is proficient in the preparation of grading and drainage plans for commercial and residential properties. Our design professionals will evaluate existing and proposed site conditions and topography, calculate the required stormwater storage capacity for the site, and design an appropriate stormwater collection and infiltration system to effectively drain the site after a rain event.
Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP)
If a SWPPP is required for a site, our design professionals will prepare an Erosion and Sediment Control Plan as well as a SWPPP report in accordance with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) requirements. For sites that require the preparation of a SWPPP that includes post-construction stormwater management practices, North Star Engineering will perform water quality and quantity calculations to ensure that post-development runoff flow rates will not exceed pre-development runoff flow rates for the 10-year and 100-year storm events. Our staff are certified to perform SWPPP inspections throughout the duration of site activities.
Wetlands Permitting
For projects that require wetlands permitting, North Star Engineering will prepare a tidal or freshwater wetlands permit application package for submission to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC). Our design professionals will prepare the required documentation, including, but not limited to, project plans showing the wetlands buffer area, photo logs, and application forms.
Site Planning & Realty Subdivisions
North Star Engineering prepares site plans and subdivision plans in compliance with Town and County requirements for both residential and commercial properties. Our engineers coordinate with regulatory agencies to obtain the required permits for site development.
Reduced Pressure Zone
(RPZ) Designs
North Star Engineering is experienced in the design of RPZ devices for new or existing water service connections. The RPZ is a backflow prevention device that prevents contamination of the public water supply.
